FAQS

Is the Herberger Theater Center taking steps due to current health concerns?
The Herberger Theater Center remains strongly committed to the health and safety of everyone who comes to the theater as a guest, performer, volunteer or associate (staff). We carefully monitor the local and global situation regarding COVID-19 and review ongoing updates through the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, World Health Organization, and the Arizona Department of Health Services. With that information, we continue to adapt our safety protocols in order to provide the safest experience for our guests, performers, staff, and volunteers. Guests are encouraged to check this website just prior to their performance for the most up to date information and protocols. It is the responsibility of the ticket purchaser to communicate these protocols to whomever they may be providing tickets.

Masks & Face Coverings: With the recent adjustment of the CDC guidelines regarding masks, the protocols have been adjusted. For many performances, masks and face covering are no longer required for guests. However, some of the performing companies who present productions at the Herberger Theater Center are still requiring masks and face coverings for all guests. Masks and face coverings may only be removed while actively enjoying concessions purchased at the bar. If this is a requirement for your performance, additional information will be available on the production webpage as well as included in information communicated by email directly to ticket buyers. To confirm if this is a requirement for your performance, please connect with us using the texting service on the bottom right corner of our website or contact the box office at 602.252.8497. If masks and face coverings are required, they must be constructed and worn as per CDC guidelines. Cloth face coverings shall be constructed with two or more layers of breathable fabric. Face coverings shall cover both nose and mouth and fit snugly along the sides of the face and securely under the chin. At this time, staff and volunteers are still required to wear masks of face coverings at the Herberger Theater Center regardless of vaccination status..

Guest Vaccinations: Some of the performing companies who present productions at the Herberger Theater Center are currently requiring all guests of their performances to provide proof of vaccination or negative COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours of the performance time. If this is a requirement for your performance, additional information will be available on the production page as well as included in information communicated by email directly to ticket buyers. To confirm if this is a requirement for your performance, please connect with us using the texting service on the bottom right corner of our website or contact the box office at 602.252.8497.

Healthy Associates – COVID-19 Vaccination: Herberger Theater Center associates and volunteers are required to be fully vaccinated, as defined by the CDC, in order to work at the theater.

Box Office: Tickets will be available online with tickets delivered through email. Ticket scanning for entry will be touch-free. Guests who are not feeling well or who have symptoms should not attend events and will be allowed to exchange their tickets or receive refunds.

Restrooms: Occupancy of the interior restrooms will be limited. Molekule brand air purifiers, which have been FDA-cleared as shown to destroy viruses and bacteria, have been added to lobby public restrooms. Ongoing sanitation of high-touch surfaces will take place during all events. See below.

Cleaning: In addition to overnight sanitation, we have trained cleaning staff before, during, and after every event with guests. They sanitize high touch points, restrooms, and other surfaces on an ongoing basis. That includes the audience area, restroom, box office, and backstage areas.

Concessions: Concessions will be available to purchase in the lobby. No outside food or drink will be permitted.

Healthy Associates – Health Screening: Associates and volunteers will continue to submit daily health screening information, including temperature checks. Anyone reporting symptoms or not feeling well will not be permitted at the theater.

Smoking/Vaping: Smoking and vaping will only be permitted in designated exterior areas away from the seating area and lobby doors.

Please be advised: These health and safety protocols are in combination with all health and safety protocols chosen by the performing company of the show you attend.
If I can’t make it to the show, can I get a refund or exchange my tickets for another date?
Refunds and exchanges are allowed, with a small fee per ticket. Guests who are not feeling well or who have symptoms should not attend events and will be allowed to exchange their tickets or receive refunds.
Who is the authorized ticket agent for Herberger Theater Center?
Etix is the official ticket agent for the Herberger Theater Center. Tickets can be purchased by phone at 602.252.8497. The official website for the Herberger Theater is www.herbergertheater.org.
Do I have to buy tickets in advance, or can I buy them when I come to the theater?
There is no requirement that you purchase advance tickets. If there are still tickets available on the day of the performance, you may purchase them in person at the box office. Some shows sell very quickly and do not always have tickets available on the day of the show, so we suggest you call the box office to check availability prior to making the trip.
Can someone else pick my tickets up at the box office for me?
Anyone collecting pre-purchased tickets at the box office must show ID and match the name the tickets were purchased under.
I've ordered email print-at-home tickets online. When can I expect to receive them?
Print-at-home tickets are sent to you as PDF attachments to an email and you should receive them almost immediately – certainly within a day of your order. If you have not received them by the next day, please call the box office.
What is the Herberger Theater's bag policy?
The Herberger Theater asks that your purse or bag be able to sit under your seat. We do not have a clear bag policy; however, the theater reserves the right to inspect any bag brought into the theater.
I don't have a credit card. Where can I buy tickets for cash?
You can make cash payments at our theater box office.
What happens if I purchase my ticket from an unauthorized seller (scalper)?
Be aware that the theater may refuse to honor a ticket known to have been acquired from an unauthorized source. Ticket brokers and agents – also known as scalpers, or touts – buy tickets to popular events in bulk, in advance, to resell later at a profit.Brokers have also been known to sell counterfeit and stolen tickets. While some brokers and agents are reputable and provide a service to the desperate, it is an expensive service and the buyer must beware. Known fraudulent scalping websites include “Secure Box Office” and “Tickets-Center.” Tickets should never be purchased through Facebook Messenger with another guest who claims to have tickets.
Are children allowed in the theater?
Babies in arms or children under the age of two (2) are not permitted in the theater. Children older than two (2) should be able to sit quietly in their own seats throughout a performance. If you are in doubt about bringing a child to any particular production, please ask before buying tickets.

Please be aware that if you do bring a young child and that child creates any disturbance, you may be asked to leave the theater or may be re-seated to lessen the disturbance. Some individual shows may set higher age limits; if so, this will be posted on our website.
Does my child need a ticket? Can he/she sit on my lap?
Both the Fire Code and theater insurance policies require everyone in a live theater audience, regardless of age, to have an assigned seat and a ticket. This is the case even if the child sits in your lap and not in his or her assigned seat.
What should I wear to the theater?
There is no formal dress code enforced in our theater. Most of the people you will see in the audience will probably be dressed in “business casual” attire.
How early must I arrive?
We suggest that you arrive at least 30 minutes before the performance begins. This will give you time to pick up your tickets if needed, visit concessions, the art gallery and the restroom before you find your seat. The lobby will open 60 minutes prior to the start of the show and 30 minutes prior to shows held in The Kax Stage. The theater doors open for seating 30 minutes prior to the show.
What happens if I am late?
All performances begin promptly as scheduled. Latecomers will be admitted only during a suitable break in the performance, and seating location will be at the discretion of the management. If you are late, it may not be possible to seat you until the intermission; if the production has no intermission, you may not be admitted at all. Latecomers may watch the show on the monitor in the lobby.
Can I leave the theater and come back?
If you leave your seat during the performance, we will re-seat you only at a suitable break in the performance, which might not be until the intermission. Seating location will be at the discretion of the management.
How long is the show?
Due to the wide array of programming, shows range in length. If the runtime of a show is not posted on our website, it may be a good idea to call our box office at 602.252.8497 for more information.
Can I take pictures of the show?
No photography of the show is permitted at any time. For most productions, professional production shots will be taken of the show for media purposes. These photos are often posted on the producing company’s social media pages or website.
Can I text or tweet during the show?
So as not to disturb others, please refrain from tweeting and texting during the show. When the curtain goes up, your device must be turned off. We do however encourage folks to tweet us before and after the show and during intermission @herbergertheatr. If you would prefer to text with a guest experience representative during intermission or following the show, please text us at (505)-658-0082.
Can I bring my own food and drinks inside the venue?
Outside food and drinks are not permitted in the theater. A variety of snacks and drinks are available for purchase on site. Drinks with a lid may be taken into the theater. No food is permitted inside the theater.
Can we come on stage/backstage after the show and meet the cast?
That would be lots of fun, but, unfortunately, no. Visitors are not permitted backstage; only cast and crew are permitted on stage. Many people go to the stage door after the show to see and meet cast members – and get autographs – but both the stage and the backstage area are strictly off-limits to anyone not directly involved with the production. This is not because we are mean, but is for reasons of safety (and insurance).
Are there discounts for children, students or seniors
Children, students and seniors may be eligible for a discount depending on the producing company of the show. It is always a good idea to inquire about this with our box office.
What about group rates? How many do I need for a group discount?
Group discounts are available for most of our events. The minimum size of a “group” may vary with different events – for most productions, the minimum order for a group discount is 12 persons. Please check our Group Sales page for full details.
How do I redeem a gift card/certificate?

Do gift certificates expire?

Are your theaters wheelchair accessible?

I am hearing impaired. Does your theater offer amplification?

Many performing companies offer ASL interpretations and/or audio descriptions of their shows. Any performances that offer this will be noted on the performance page.
I must have an aisle seat. How can I be sure my seat is on an aisle?
If you require an aisle seat, please call our Box Office at 602.252.8497 to ensure you are seated in your preferred location when booking tickets.
